Answer

Books in the library are cataloged by the Library of Congress Classification Scheme, which uses a combination of letters and numbers for call numbers. Each letter refers to a broad subject area; letter combinations indicate a subset of that discipline.

  • 2nd floor:  Call numbers A through HN (DVDs are also on the second floor)
  • 3rd floor:   Call numbers HN through Z

The Children's Collection includes both print books and DVDs; fiction books are cataloged alphabetically by author's last name, and non-fiction books use the Dewey Decimal System. Use the MU catalog to find items in the Children's Collection. It's also fun to just browse!
